Multitrophic Interactions in Agroecosystems:
A Landscape-Scale Approach
I am an environmental scientist passionate about understanding nature and the intricate relationships that sustain it. My research focuses on how landscapes shape ecological interactions within agricultural systems, particularly through the study of multitrophic interactions involving abiotic stress in plants, plant viruses, herbivorous insects as virus vectors, and beneficial arthropods as natural enemies in crops.
I have worked across a wide range of agricultural systems in different biogeographical regions, including Montreal (Canada), central Mexico, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Spain (both intensive greenhouse production as well as extensive/perennial cropping systems). This broad geographical experience has allowed me to explore how landscape structure, management intensity, and ecological context interact to influence biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, and crop health.
Currently, I am working on agricultural systems in Uppsala, Sweden, where I continue to investigate how crop diversification and landscape structure influence functional biodiversity and the provision of ecosystem services.
My goal as a researcher is to contribute to the design of sustainable and diversified agricultural landscapes, where productive farming and biodiversity conservation coexist, fostering ecological integrity and long-term resilience.
